ABOUT ABILITY AND CHOICE SERVICES

Family-owned since 1987, we operate social and community access hubs in Salt Lake & Tooele Counties along with integrated employment supports and in-home care for adults with developmental disabilities. Our day program hubs serve as community gathering hubs for participants to socialize, learn life skills, and access the greater community with their peers. Our participants (along with staff) enjoy going to community assets such as parks, the zoo, the aquarium, the movies, volunteering, and bowling--as well as taking semi-annual field trips to destinations such as Wendover and Boondocks.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A REGIONAL DIRECTOR / SOCIAL SERVICES

As a Regional Director, you oversee the operations of one of our regions, supervising programs, staff, and participants. Working out of our regional office, you manage around 25 staff and 60 clients. You are like the conductor of a great orchestra. Except there is no musical talent needed! Each staff member makes a unique contribution. Under your expert direction, the resulting symphony is greater than its parts.

You provide direction to staff members and inspire them to play their parts beautifully. You ensure that services are implemented safely, effectively, and according to established standards. Your excellent interpersonal & communication skills are instruments for your success as you interact with clients, their families, your staff, other social service agencies, and governing bodies.

You understand the importance of rules and maintain compliance with Federal & State regulations. Practice makes perfect, and you regularly participate in professional development activities to keep current with issues and trends affecting the populations that we serve. Your style of performance fosters teamwork, respect, cooperation, accountability, and trust. And, there is always an encore, because you love what you do!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A REGIONAL DIRECTOR / SOCIAL SERVICES

• Reliable vehicle to attend appointments
• Clean background and decent driving record
• Ability to communicate effectively in English (writing, typing, and speaking)
• Leadership skills
• Ability to maintain and train on electronic recordkeeping (Therap) including EVV requirements
• A heart for serving people with developmental disabilities

Preference will be given to candidates who have a degree in a social services field OR 5 years of experience working in the developmental disability field. Two years of experience working in a supervisory role with adults in a social services setting is also preferred.
