Ability and Choice Services, Inc. (ACS) is seeking to hire part-time and full-time Caregivers / Direct Support Professionals to work with individuals with disabilities in their homes and/or at one of our day program hubs. We pay our Caregivers / Direct Support Professionals a competitive starting wage of $12.00-$13.00/hour based on experience. All employees are eligible for our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and our full-time employees are also eligible for benefits including health, vision, dental, short-term disability insurance, paid time off (PTO), and paid holidays. ABOUT ABILITY AND CHOICE SERVICES, INC. (ACS)

Family-owned since 1987, we operate a social and community access hubs in Salt Lake and Tooele Counties along with integrated employment supports and in-home care for adults with developmental disabilities. Our day program hubs serve as community gathering hubs for participants to socialize, learn life skills, and access the greater community with their peers. Our participants (along with staff) enjoy going to community assets such as parks, the zoo, the aquarium, the movies, volunteering, and bowling--as well as taking semi-annual field trips to destinations such as Wendover and Boondocks.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CAREGIVER / DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL

As a Caregiver / Direct Support Professional, you support adults with developmental disabilities and brain injuries to live their best lives as independently as possible. In a residential setting or at our day program, you assist your clients with daily living activities and use effective teaching and mentoring techniques to teach them new skills and help them achieve goals. You are happy to assist with educational skills and recreational activities while providing a safe environment and helping them find greater access to the community.

You are conscientious about reporting any concerns about their health and safety and keeping documentation accurate and up-to-date. You are energized by the dynamic team of people you work with and find the work of supporting people with developmental disabilities and brain injuries to live amazing lives according to their own needs and desires extremely rewarding!

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 18 years old or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Own a smart phone
  • Reliable transportation and a good driving record
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug test

WORK SCHEDULE

Full-time schedules are generally 8-hour shifts 5 days each week (35-40hours/week). Part-time schedules are typically 8-hour shifts 3 days per week or 4-hour shifts 5 days each week (24-25hours/week).

The salary range listed is what is available for this position; new appointments are generally started at the lower end of the range depending on education and experience.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Due to the nature of the people we serve, Federal and State laws require a criminal background review. Applicants with a history of abuse, exploitation and other related offenses, on the Medicaid Exclusion list or any felony in the last 10 years will be denied employment or terminated if discovered wile currently employed. The Department of Human Services has an appeal and review process for applicants and employees adversely affected.

If adverse action is based on any of these results, the applicant will be notified in writing with the source and results of the information and given the opportunity to comment as appropriate.
